8 Healthy Vegan Snacks Your Body Will Love!
I’m constantly on the hunt for vegan snacks. If it looks like a vegan cheese puff, I’ve tried it. 🤪Obviously, fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts are best when considering healthy snacks, but sometimes I want a crunchy, salty snack I can eat while binge watching Netflix. Basically, Cheezits without the cheese and Oreos without the preservatives. Depending on where you shop, selection can be limited, so I’m sharing the best tasting guilt-free snacks out there - most available online and grocery stores like Ralph’s, Jewel or Giant!
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to really understand the value of nutrition, specifically the importance of mixing protein, fiber and fats into every meal, snacks included. Fruits and veggies are like the icing on top, but the good stuff is in plant-based goodness. Below, are a few of my favorite super-food snacks, all of which go perfectly with a side of strawberries or frozen grapes.
On the go? These snacks are easy to grab and munch!
Torie & Howard Organic Hard Candy
Calories: 60 calories for 1 serving (5 pieces)
If you’re ever in need of a quick sugar fix, I love these organic hard candies from Torie & Howard. Not to be a buzz kill, but most candies are made of gelatin, which is from cow bone, so always keep in mind when looking at jolly ranchers. 🤢
Calories: 100 per bag!
Asha Pops are made from popped water lily (lotus) seeds and recommended by the ancient Indian holistic healing science called Ayurveda. Their flavors are delicious with a light and crunchy puff texture. My favorite flavors are Turmeric and Bombay Masala.
Alter Eco Coconut Clusters
Calories: 160 Protein: 2g Carbs: 9g
OMG these Coconut Clusters from Alter Eco are so good! I grabbed a bag from the Healthy Brands Expo in Los Angeles, and I've been obsessed ever since! I've only tried the original flavor, but I'm sure the others are bomb too.
Bolthouse Farms Protein Milk
Calories: 160 Protein: 10g Carbs: 19g
Since I've always been allergic to milk protein, I never grew up drinking milk by the glass. The sight of it actually repulses me.. even if it's plant-based. BUT this brand totally changed my perception. Their pea protein chocolate flavor is sooo good, I drink it over ice daily in the morning... never thought I'd ever do that!
I've also swapped out my Almond Milk for Bolthouse Farms' vanilla and original flavors in smoothies. It makes them taste way better.. almost like a milkshake! Since they have so much protein, you don't need powders. Right now, I'm loving this smoothie: plant-based chocolate milk, frozen banana, peanut butter, chia seeds and sunflower nuts. It literally tastes like dessert.
barkTHINS were one of the first vegan sweet snacks I found! My favorite flavors are the pumpkin seed and pretzel flavors!! All of them are vegan. 😍
Saffron Roads Roasted Chickpeas Calories: 130 Protein: 8g Carbs: 18g
I love these crunchy chickpeas! They're great on-the-go or post-workout when you're craving something salty with your protein smoothie.
Have a few minutes? These healthy snacks take a little prep but are worth the wait!
Sprout Living Protein Powder Calories: 146 Protein: 19g Carbs: 15g
Check out my Strawberry Vanilla Protein Smoothie recipe! 😍
Not Your Hipster’s Avocado Toast Calories: 280 Protein: 11g Carbs: *Depends on the bread you use! I like Ezekiel Sprouted Bread
Actually, this is probably the most hipster avocado toast in the world, but it’s fucking delicious. After toasting your sprouted bread to almost burnt perfection, spread on half an avocado. Sprinkle pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, salt and pepper. Top it off with a drizzle of sriracha or crushed red pepper 🌶
