Growing Long and Healthy Hair with Monat

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my hair routine lately, so here’s a list of my go-to tricks to keeping my blonde hair bright and healthy. I don't cut my hair as much as I should, so I always make sure to follow these steps to making sure my hair stays strong and breakage-free. Scroll down for or tips on how I create flawless blonde hair and brows using vegan and all-natural products!

Shampoo Every Other Day

Shampoo can strip your hair of it's natural healthy oils, so washing my hair everyday, I skip the suds and just massage my scalp with water every other shower. It drives me nuts when people wash their everyday with shampoo because their losing so many natural oils that are there to keep your hair healthy and strong. Switching to every other day can do miracles!

My hair is very straight and thin, so I always opt for a shampoo that can add volume and density. The Monat Revive Shampoo gave my hair a fluffy bounce that I absolutely loved! Their products are infused with "REJUVENIQE", a proprietary blend of unique oils containing essential powerfully active botanical ingredients that help strengthen, grow and protect your hair. I tend to switch up my brands whenever one runs out, so I also like the Bumble And Bumble Thickening Shampoo.

Turn Every Condition Into A Leave-In Conditioner

No matter what type of conditioner I'm using, I always leave it on for at least 5 minutes. I've been doing this since high school and I swear by it! While the conditioner is soaking in, I usually wash and exfoliate my face. I really like the Bumble And Bumble Thickening Volume Conditioner, but for this look, I tried the Monat Hair Revitalize Conditioner. I highly recommend it if your suffering from hair loss or looking to grow your hair out fast.

Limit Professional Coloring

I only highlight my hair professionally twice a year. Seriously! To maintain blonde roots, I spray the Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray by John Freida every couple of weeks. This can create a brassy tone after a while, so twice a week, I use the Color Correct Anti-Brass Cleansing Treatment. Though, your hairstylist probably wouldn't recommend this route, using these products instead of monthly highlights saves me money and I think also reduces damage.

Pop Pills Daily

A pill a day keeps the breakage away! For the past 3 years, I’ve been taking 1 Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nail vitamin and 1 Nature Made Women's Multivitamin daily. There are a ton of vitamin brands out there, but I try to stick to the ones that are the least processed and that contain zero animal bi-products, which can be difficult to find for some.

Apply Serums 2-3x a Day

After towel drying my hair, I always add a serum to my ends and dry spots surrounding my face. This is key to detangling your hair, but also gives it an extra boost of nutrients. I used to love the OGX Coconut Milk Ant-Breakage Serum, but since it contains cow's milk, I'm switching to other products. You'd be surprised how many brands contain animal bi-products! It's so gross! As an alternative, I'm using the OG of hair serums, Moroccan Oil, which is infused with antioxidant-rich argan oil and vitamin-rich linseed (flax) seed extract to help strengthen hair.

After styling, I spritz on the Bumble And Bumble Salt Spray for added texture. At night, I like to put a little coconut oil on my ends and tie my hair up in a bun. Wearing my hair down at night is annoying when I sleep, and it can cause breakouts from oils transferring onto your face from your pillow. Ew.

Coordinate Brows

Eye brows can be a challenge for blondes, especially if yours are thin and practically transparent like mine. Recently, I've been trying a vegan, all-natural brow pomade by Plume Science in their Ashy Daybreak shade. It has a surprisingly smooth finish and the color is perfect for ashy blondes like me. I've noticed blonde pencils and tints tend to appear orange, so I'm so excited to find a color that works.

Their pomades also come with a duo brow brush and comb, which is a nice touch. The best part is that the active ingredients promote brow fullness and density, while antioxidants and moisture-rich nutrients condition the skin and hair along the brows. It's literally an all-in-one product that sculpts, fills, AND grows your brows.

For added definition, I add a darker brown color at the ends and top them off with my NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Chocolate for a fleek-approved look. 💯
